This anthology was a true labor of love for me but I wouldn’t change the journey that got us here for one moment.
I could go all the way back to the inception of Top in Fiction, our Substack newsletter that was created out of necessity for a place to show and share fiction to the many readers who are clamoring to find good stories. But that’s such a long story but I encourage you to subscribe to Top in Fiction if you haven’t already and strap in for brand new stories delivered to your inbox on a weekly basis from some truly amazing writers.
TiF Press is sort of my way of giving back to the community that was right there with me when it came to shining a light on fiction on the internet in a big way. I knew there was more that could and should be done. But I’ve never been one to sit back and wait for someone else to make change. Especially if I feel I might have the mental stamina to do it. When I came up with TiF Press I knew what it’s central tenet would be; a place where fiction gets published. That’s it. A rather simple idea but when you peel back the layers you quickly realize it’s not so simple. And when you add in that I want to publish anthologies, that goes from just one person and one book to dozens of people attached to one book. It’s many moving parts but for my first time out the gate, I think it’s gone about as smoothly as can be expected.
It started with a seed of an idea and the first Friday the 13th of the year. And so, I set the bait and dozens fell for it! By Summer 2025 I was left with some amazing stories and important decisions to make: Who to invite to be in the very first anthology? Who to get to design the cover? Deadlines? Contracts? What POD Service to use?
Suffice it to say, my initial goal of releasing the first anthology in time for the first Friday the 13th of 2026 was not in the cards. Turns out it takes a hell of a lot of organizing and planning and timing to get it all to work out exactly how you want. And despite all my spreadsheets and emails and formatting prowess we were about 6 weeks behind schedule of where I wanted to be. But, we made the March 28th release date and I couldn’t be happier!
We have plenty of anthologies and other collections planned to publish in the coming years but make no mistake, Eye See You | A Horror Anthology being the very first means it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I want to thank the judges, John Coon and Garen Glazier, who helped me narrow down who went in the anthology. I also want to thank A.C. Sanders for her amazing cover design!Â
