Cloud Country by Andy Futuro

Cloud Country by Andy Futuro

[This is the beginning of many coming in the future.]

I Read Andy Futuro’s novel, Cloud Country. Here are some thoughts,

This book is the second in the Special Sin series, following No Dogs in Philly. First, go read them for yourself — they’re seriously good. Second, mild spoilers ahead (this salsa won’t even burn your buds though. So mild.)

This novel is an excellent entry in the series that expands the workings of the universe it inhabits, both in tone and geography. The first book is the slimy, writhing city of Philadelphia. No Dog’s resembles the Hungry God of the book — the disturbing and grotesque antagonist of the book. Cloud Country shifts the tone and more resembles the Blue God, which is the antagonist of this book — an uncaring and powerful entity trying to eliminate the Hungry God’s presence on earth.

Learning more about the world of these books and how the gods function was rad, and there is still that anti-consumer/capitalist humor throughout that fits perfectly with the universe. This book pulls me further into the world, just as it does to Saru the protagonist, and I’m anxious to see what happens next.
