Beneath the Valley Oak by Sean Thomas McDonnell

It’s time. For another. Unprovoked. Informal. Review.

Loser’s Thought’s on Sean Thomas McDonnell’s beautiful collection of folk horror. Beneath the Valley Oak is a roving wagon piled with odd stories and pulled by the mule of frontier atmosphere 👈🤠👉 I loved every one of these odd parcels, each one was memorable, unique, and tinged faintly with a whiff of corruption and horror. They felt well-suited for each others company, and the whole thing sort of reminded me of Ballad of Buster Scruggs (if you don’t know, Netflix it). Definitely give this one a read and feel the grit in your eye.
