By creating an author profile on Goodreads, you will be able to directly engage with your audience, receive reviews (I know, scary), and network with others on the platform. This is a great way to build a community beyond Substack and find more readers to read your lovely writing.
Like your Substack, it is important to regularly update your profile and keep it aligned with the author brand you’d built. So, what are some ways you can connect with readers on Goodreads?

- Connect your website/blog/Substack to broaden your readership
- Add any other relevant links- Whether that’s press pieces about you, interviews, anything that can spread the word about the work that you do
- Provide updates
- Whether that’s staying up to date on your latest works or giving a behind the scenes look of your writing life

- Author signings, readings, or any other events that readers can connect with you in person or virtually
For the longest time, I didn’t know you could create an author profile for Goodreads. I had just used Goodreads to log the books that I’ve read over the span of the year. But now, seeing the benefits of creating a community with readers, I think it is definitely worth exploring.
